Don't these fuzzy black cats just call out to you? Can you not hear their delightful mews? They are rather quiet, mostly, so if you don't hear them we understand. Some nights though, when you're already in bed and you've slipped your feet out of these for the night, after you lay down and are drifting off to sleep, you might just catch the slightest 'mew'. At first you think you're hearing things, but as you fade back into the twilight of pre-sleep your body relaxes, and your breathing gets steady.
Okay, what the heck?! So now you're all awake and looking around the room for whatever is making the noise. 12 minutes pass, nothing. 15 minutes, nothing. You start to think that maybe, possibly, it was something else entirely, and that you do need to get to sleep. So you lay back down, settling back into your pillow. Dozing comes faster this time, you've already got the sleep chemicals primed. Happy thoughts soon appear vivid, the first hints of dreaming begin to clarify. Soon you're fast asleep. Mew. You don't hear at all the repeated mew mew mewing that goes on through the night, not even in your dreams. The sound is too soft, too subtle. Weird thing is, it's not real. Nothing is.
